Political analysts from all sides have been left to speculate whether Cain will resume his bid or give another candidate, potentially Newt Gingrich, his endorsement. Pundit Ferrel Michaels opined: “Cain’s support of Gingrich could really solidify votes from conservative Christian adulterers, who would otherwise have no place to turn. Cain has enough hate in his heart to be a good evangelical, but his ethnicity has long posed problems for this particular group. Certainly, though, his experience as a serial cheater may help push Gingrich loyalists past their racism.”

During the hearing, Murdoch had denied that he knew of an email that included transcripts of 35 hacked conversations, but a former lawyer for News International named Tom Crone asserted that Murdoch was indeed aware of the electronic correspondence. “I have no doubt,” Crone’s letter read, “that I informed Mr. Murdoch of its existence, what it was and where it came from.” Given the obsessive and controlling management style attributed to Rupert Murdoch -- James Murdoch’s father and head of News International -- the revelation of this new evidence would seem to imply that the Murdochs were cognizant of and complicit in the illegal activities.

But in an intriguing turn of events, a day that threatened to impugn Rupert Murdoch’s reputation for ethics and integrity was turned around by news of his heroism, after London police reported that the octogenarian news mogul was responsible for saving the life of a drowning infant.

SAN NARCISO, Calif. -- Attorneys representing People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) filed a cease and desist order today against the Fox Broadcasting Company and Seth MacFarlane, creator of the animated comedy “Family Guy.” The order follows last night’s Christmas special, where in one scene carnivorous reindeer feast on the flesh of Santa’s inbred elves. Later in the episode, the reindeer, deprived of elf flesh, soon turn to cannibalism and devour each other, leaving a bloody but cartoonish trail of carnage to litter the ground of the show’s fictional New England suburb.
